Today, as we all know, is the seventh anniversary of 9-11. Even though I was nowhere near NYC, PA, or DC on that morning, it is one I'll never forget. I doubt any American will ever forget that morning. At least I hope they won't. To forget that morning will be to forget the innocent Americans who were murdered, the heroes that lost their lives trying to save others, and the families who lost their loved ones. And it would be to forget that there are people in this world who want to do away with every American -- no matter if they are young or old, man or woman, Republican or Democrat. It would be to forget those in the Armed Forces who work so hard to keep us safe from those evil beings. And I am so thankful to them. I put my sweet babies to bed each night feeling safe, and for that I owe those brave men & women a debt of gratitude.
Seven years ago, some dear friends of my parents lost their daughter, who was my age. She was headed to Hawaii with her boyfriend for a vacation on the second plane to hit the World Trade Towers. Even though I didn't know her, I think of her a lot. And I think of her parents a lot. Once I had my own children, the ache I felt for them grew even stronger because now I can understand the love a parent has for her child. I can't imagine suffering such a loss, especially at the hands of such evil. So, for Lynn Goodchild, Shawn Nassaney, and the thousands of others who died that day, let's vow to never forget their lives and never take our safety for granted. There are so many who die so that we may have it. Let's not let any of their lives be in vain.
